Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy aims to restore normal function. Physiotherapy training is very holistic in its approach, with physiotherapists being the health professional specialists in human movement.
By being trained in all of the body’s systems, this allows physiotherapists to utilise skills in all the areas to treat the patient individually and holistically.
At your first appointment one of our Chartered Physiotherapists will carry out an in-depth assessment to ensure they treat the problem quickly and efficiently. Also by identifying why the problem occurred in the first place, and incorporating prevention into the treatment plan, it will enable long term benefit from physiotherapy and enable you to manage your condition effectively.
Physiotherapists are bound by a code of ethics which ensures that they only treat when it is clinically appropriate and with your consent. Where appropriate they will liaise with your GP to ensure the most appropriate course of action.
Our physiotherapists are registered with the Health & Care Professions Council and are members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
Sports Therapy
Sports Therapy is an aspect of healthcare that is specifically concerned with the prevention of injury and the rehabilitation of the patient back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness, regardless of age and ability.
It utilises the principles of sport and exercise science to prepare the participant for training competition and where applicable, work. Sports therapy will provide appropriate soft tissue interventions in a sport & exercise context; along with planning and implementing appropriate rehabilitation and return to training/work programmes specific to the individual.
Sports Massage is an excellent technique utilised for releasing tension and enabling fuller movement. It is also very good at aiding recovery by stimulating the circulatory and nervous systems.
Dietician
A dietician is a type of nutritionist, but a nutritionist is not a dietician. Registered Dietitians are the only qualified health professionals that assess, diagnose and treat dietary and nutritional problems at an individual and wider public health level. They work with healthy clients and those with medical conditions such as diabetes, Crohns’ Disease, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, IBS, to name but a few.
Uniquely, dietitians use the most up-to-date public health and scientific research on food, health and disease which they translate into practical guidance to enable people to make appropriate lifestyle and food choices. Dietitians are the only nutrition professionals to be regulated by law, and are governed by an ethical code to ensure that they always work to the highest standard. (BDA 2023)
Our dietician offers a tailored and individualised approach. This person centred approach shows the importance of you are your goals, and offers support and guidance to work towards these, helping you understand the rationale behind a healthy and balanced diet
“Why you need to have a diet, when you can have YOUR diet?”
Pain Clinic
OneBody Physiotherapy aim to provide a private pain management service as an alternative to the long waiting times for an NHS Pain Clinic. Our experienced team of physiotherapists and Pain Management Specialist Nurse are ideally placed within our facility to offer a very holistic approach to the education and management of chronic pain. Our approach is one of not only education about the neurophysiology of pain, to help people learn to manage and cope with their pain better. But we also work towards a reduction in pain levels overall for a better quality of life. We aim to do this by providing an individualised approach to treatments such as acupuncture, possible manual therapy techniques and rehabilitation programming and advice, incorporating hydrotherapy as an example.
Pilates
Pilates is a specific form of exercise which focusses on postural positioning, alignment, strength and balance. It is an excellent form of exercise for everyone regardless of age or ability. It is especially good for people suffering from back pain, and as such we offer a specific class through OneBody into which we are able to refer our clients. Instructed by an experienced accredited Pilates instructor it is an excellent adjunct to what we offer through the clinic.
At OneBody Physiotherapy all of our practitioners are experts in their individual field. Each have areas of special interest and we work together to integrate our services to offer a very holistic approach to our patients’ care. As a result of this multidisciplinary approach we can combine our different disciplines to offer bespoke packages of care.
Some examples of this include:
Menopause packages – this includes a consultation & plan with Marika for dietary advice to help combat the problematic weight gain associated the hormonal changes; along with treatment with Emanuela who will use specific abdominal techniques to help with bloating, circulation and muscle action to assist with some of the effects that women experience during the perimenopause and menopause itself. Bolt-ons to the package can include treatment for pain with Jacinta or Liz.
Pain Management packages – including sessions with Jacinta for acupuncture; Reflex Zone Therapy with Jo for relaxation and Physiotherapy treatment with Alison or Liz for manual therapies and activity guidance.
Long Covid – Physiotherapy & pain management combine to provide a holistic approach to the array of symptoms people are experiencing post covid infection.
Our Wellness Packages also offer regular treatment with a Liz or Alison for physiotherapy or with Emanuela for sports massage and / or exercise coaching – these can be interchangeable depending on your aims and requirements.
Golfers’ Performance packages see Emanuela partnering with Joel Pickard, one of the Club’s professional coaches to identify and treat restrictions in mobility, strength and flexibility that are affecting your golf swing and game.
